Not Again!!!!!

Every Tuesday we play poker. Some Tuesdays we mix it up a little. This Tuesday we got adventurous and split our tournament between No Limit Texas Hold Em and No Limit 2-7 Lowball. What is 2-7 Lowball? You aren’t the only person that asked that question. It is a five card draw game where the lowest hand wins. Players are dealt five cards. There is a round of betting. Players discard all, some or none of their first five cards and receive replacements. Another round of betting. In this game straights are bad and flushes are worse. Even aces are no good. The best possible hand is 2-3-4-5-7. Who would play this? I know of at least 40 people because that is how many showed up. They liked it so much, there were 45 rebuys so they could keep playing it. When we reached the first break, we had a prize pool of $2,120 to be distributed to our top 9 finishers.

With two tables and ten players remaining, hand for hand play started. It didn’t last long as Jimmy Far. (Binghamton, NY) claimed his second stone bubble of the month (at this venue). He was followed to the rail by Joe Nat. (Maine, NY). At least Joe received $55 for his 9th place finish, notching his second Tuesday Night cash in three weeks.

The final 8 players had a redraw for seating and play resumed at the final table. Jose Fer. (Brackney, PA) broke a recent streak of deep runs that fell short of the money with an 8th place finish for $75. Lowball specialist Wayne Win. (Johnson City, NY) picked up too many high cards, finding himself exiting in 7th place with a $95 payout. Jim All. (Windsor, NY) continued his profitable March with a 6th place finish for $120. This was Jim’s 5th cash at 607poker.com in the month of March.

Chad P. (McGraw, NY) posted his first cash on a Tuesday Night (how is this even possible) with a 5th place finish for $150. Jeff Smi. (Marathon, PA), fresh off of his Season Points Leaderboard win, showed off his lowball skills with a 4th place finish. House gangster Gus Van. (Binghamton, NY) proved he is not a one trick pony with a 3rd place finish for $310.

Heads up play began with two players that entered this tournament with drastically different. Lucas Har. (Owego, NY) fresh off of a win last Tuesday and a final table finish on Saturday, brought his usual tenacity to lowball. Jerry Joh. (Scranton, PA) was unfamiliar with lowball and almost headed home without playing this tournament. She grasped the game quickly and gave Lucas everything she had. After several hands of play, the players agreed to pay $500 to the 2nd place finisher and the winner would take the rest. Jerry came up just short when Lucas tabled a Jack high hand in lowball. Jerry walked away with $500 for her 2nd place finish, leaving Lucas with his second straight Tuesday Night victory. Lucas picked up $615 for his 1st place finish. This is Lucas’ 6th Tuesday Night cash in 2026 and puts him at the top of the money earners for Tuesday Night. I guess we know who the man to beat is next Tuesday!
