The Main Event Champ
On Sunday we held our biggest buy-in tournament to date, a $400 buy-in with 44 players. After a series of rebuys, we had a prize pool of $21,660 to be paid out to our top 8 finishers.
With two tables and 10 players remaining, it was agreed to take $100 off of the top 8 payouts and pay the other two remaining players $400 each. This did not have a major impact on the tournament as 10 handed play continued for the better part of the next two levels. Mark Jil. (Waverly, NY) worked a short stack for an extended period before falling. Mark collected $400 for his 10th place finish.
The remaining nine players had a redraw for final table seating and play resumed with Dave Tra. (Binghamton, NY) exiting in 9th place for a $400 payout. Jonny Mar. (Binghamton, NY) continued his recent hot streak but ran into a cooler when he flopped the nut straight against a flopped flush, crippling him. Jonny’s 8th place finish earned him $650. Tom Wir. (Elmira, NY) came into the final table as a big stack but after running AQ into AK, Tom couldn’t regain momentum and exited in 7th place, picking up $770.
Adam Bas. (Vestal, NY) was crippled when he got all of his chips in preflop with AT against his opponent’s KQ and a K showed up on the flop. Adam worked his remaining short stack to a 6th place finish, pocketing $990. Jordan Chr. (Windsor, NY) enjoyed a roller coaster of a final table, gaining the chip lead for a while before exiting in 5th place. Jordan took home $1,415 for his efforts. Jimmy Far. (Binghamton, NY) was our next casualty, hitting the rail with a 4th place finish worth $2,175.
The final three players discussed a chop but eventually decided to play it out with Anton Kal. (Westchester, NY) claiming a 3rd place finish worth $3,250. Heads up play did not last long when Alex Kar. (Larchmont, NY) flopped top pair but fell behind his opponent’s flush, finishing in 2nd place. Alex collected $4,880 for his 2nd place finish, just missing his second outright win at 607poker.com. This left Kevin Pea. (Binghamton, NY) with all of the chips. Kevin mounted an impressive comeback after getting QQ cracked by 77 in a massive pot in the middle stages of the final table. Kevin’s second outright win at 607poker.com earned him $6,730 and the Main Event title belt. Congrats to Kevin on a job well done!!!
