Monday Mayhem
After a busy weekend, we laced em up again and 35 players came back to take another shot at a poker victory. A slightly higher mid-week buy-in did not slow down action, resulting in 15 rebuys. Our 50 entries got us to a payout for the top 7 players.
We redrew seats to set up our final table of 9 players. One of Saturday’s big winners, Scott Str. (Port Crane, NY) saw a big chunk of his stack disappear when his AQ couldn’t fade AT (even on a Q high flop). The following hand he ran into quad 9s, exiting in 9th place and finishing as the adjusted bubble since the players agreed to take $55 off of 1st place and pay out the 8th place finisher. Bart Hur. was the beneficiary of this decision, getting his buy-in back for his hard fought 8th place finish.
Chad P. (McGraw, NY) followed up his final table appearance in Saturday’s Binghamton Poker Open with a 7th place finish in this event, taking home $100 for a small profit. Matt Geo. (Cortland, NY) followed up his chop in the Mini Mystery Bounty with another final table appearance, exiting in 6th place and collecting $125.
Kevin Dum. (Windsor, NY) grinded out a 5th place finish, picking up $175. Adam Po. (Binghamton, NY) also made it two final table appearances in three days with a 4th place finish for $250. With three players left, chips were traded until a three way all-in saw the short stack triple up and Jeff Smi. (Marathon, NY) coming up short with a missed open ended straight draw. Jeff’s 3rd place finish netted him $390.
Final table regular Cody Dec. (Windsor, NY) entered heads up play with a chip deficit to Jimmy Far. (Binghamton, NY). Already improving on a final table appearance in the Mini Mystery Bounty on Saturday, Jimmy dismissed a chop and the players pushed forward. Cody closed the chip deficit and pulled even with Jimmy but the cards turned against him and when he pushed in with K9, he ran into A9 and was unable to improve. The 2nd place finish earned Cody $600. Jimmy’s 1st place finish got him a payout of $845.
