The Comeback Kid

For the final event of our Big, Bigger, Biggest Bounty series, 52 players came out and plunked down $125 for their shot at glory. Some of these players fired an additional bullet (or two) for a total of 11 rebuys and 63 total entries. There was a $40 bounty on each player in the field with the top 6 players on the Bounty Collector Leaderboard having a double bounty placed on their heads.

With 8 places scheduled to be paid, the players decided to take $80 out of the prize pool to play 9th place and ensure everyone at the table took home some money. First time player John Gr. went out in 9th place, picking up the $80 bubble payout to go with four bounties, one of which was a double bounty. John was followed by a Scott Tho. (Conklin, NY), who seems to find his way into these write-ups every week. Scott cashed in one bounty to go with $135 for the 8th place finish.

Rob McL. (Binghamton, NY) was the next casualty, adding $180 for a 7th place finish while picking up one bounty. Christian Pen. (Binghamton, NY) was the 6th place finisher, taking home $250 but missing out on picking up any bounties. Jim Po. (Whitney Point, NY) made this his third cash in the last five tournaments played, winning $320 for his 5th place finish to go with 4 bounties, including one of the double bounties.

Rob Cli. (Conklin, NY) continued his hot streak, picking up 5 bounties along with $450 for his fourth place finish. Bryan Tri. (Scranton, PA) was crippled when his turned flush was up against a larger flush but managed to take down 3rd place and $675 to go with his seven bounties.

This left Daric Di. (Binghamton, NY) and Mike Dun. left to battle for the championship. Daric cruised to the top two as the chip leader for the majority of the tournament but Mike used a beneficial runner-runner to take a chip lead into heads up play. The two players traded chips until the critical hand in which Mike flopped top pair with his KQ against Daric’s flopped two pair (K2) on a board of K82. The queen on the turn moved the hand in Mike’s favor and the meaningless 3 on the river sealed the deal. Daric picked up $1050 for his second place finish along with 7 bounties, leaving Mike with a payday of $1425 for first place to go with the 7 bounties he had accumulated.

For the Top Bounty Collector Leaderboard, 5 places were paid out. Daric Di., Rob Cli. & Dan Ra. shared fifth place, splitting $70 between them. Dylan Boe. & Mike Dun. tied for third place, picking up $160 each and Chad P. & Jim Fa. tied for first with 14 bounties each over the three tournament series. They chopped up $795 for their efforts. Excellent work by all!
