The Five That Survived

On Friday night we had 39 players come out, plunk down their hard earned money and take a shot at some poker glory. Players started rebuying in the first level and didn’t stop until the end of the rebuy period. 16 rebuys put us at 55 total entries. Since this was a Survivor Poker Tournament, the final 5 players left would receive $750 each with $375 left over for the sixth place finisher.

We got to a lopsided final table with one giant stack, three above average stacks and five shorter stacks fighting to make the money. Matt She. (Unadilla, NY) made this his second straight final table (in back to back events) but ended up as the 9th place finisher. Rob Ri. (Bainbridge, NY) managed a roller coaster of a stack as best he could but went out as the 8th place finisher. Sharon Va. managed a short stack as best she could and was able to end a run of missed final tables with a 7th place finish. With her exit, we were in the money.

Mark Kul. (Scranton, PA) took 6th place for $375, leaving our five survivors. Jonny Ma. (Binghamton, NY) ran up a big stack early and cruised into the money spot. Joe Sch. brought a solid stack to the final table and won a big coin flip against Mark Kul. and coasted with a big stack from there. Mark Co. (Endicott, NY) brought a solid stack to the final table and maintained into the money while Scott Tho. (Conklin, NY) and Jimmy Fa. (Binghamton, NY) picked up big hands when they needed them to limp their short stacks into the money. The five survivors each received $750 for their efforts.
