Turbo Time!!
We ran a $35 buy-in turbo poker tournament on Saturday night and there was no shortage of action. We had 84 players show up to play (far and away our biggest crowd ever). 31 of these players were playing with us for the first time ever. With a smaller buy-in and a large field, players were anxious to build a big stack and they weren’t afraid to take some chances to do so. This resulted in 29 rebuys for a total of 114 entries. At the first break, players were able to add-on 25,000 chips for 20 players with 77 of the remaining players choosing to pad their chip stacks.
Once the re-buy period ended, action wasn’t quite as crazy but players were mixing it up and we got down to our final 16 players (two tables) and were on the money bubble. The money bubble didn’t last long with Bryant Mad. and Andrew Azz. (Yonkers, NY) being eliminated on the same hand. Andrew was fortunate enough to enter that hand with slightly more chips, meaning Bryant left empty handed and Andrew was our 15th place finisher, taking home $105.
We lost our next two players on back to back hands. Robert Rit. (Clinton, NY) went out 14th for $105 and Max Spe. (Queens, NY) was eliminated in 13th place for $105. 12th place was a pay jump and regular Joe Nat. (Maine, NY) picked up $135 for this finish. He was followed by fellow regulars Nick Babel (Cortland, NY) in 11th place for $135 and Jeremy Wri. (Deposit, NY) in 10th place. At this point, we had a seat redraw, sending the remaining 9 players to the final table.
Action was slow at the beginning of the final table but first time player Brad Bum. (Clinton, NY) was our first casualty. Brad took home $160 for his 9th place finish. Johnny Rod. (Pennsylvania) posted his second consecutive cash, picking up $185 for his 8th place finish. Jonny Mar. (Binghamton, NY) posted his second cash of the summer with a 7th place finish, locking up $210.
First time player Josh Tap. (Westchester, NY) was our 6th place finisher, walking away with $265. Action stayed heavy with multiple massive pots until Scott Str. (Port Crane, NY) bowed out in 5th place. Scott won $340 for his second cash (consecutive events) in his second tournament with us. Not to be outdone, Christian Pen. (Binghamton, NY) posted his fourth cash in four appearances with us, taking home $470 for his efforts.
The remaining three players agreed to chop the remaining prize pool. First time player Justin She. (Binghamton, NY) and tournament regular Scott Tho. (Conklin, NY) took home $935 each and chip leader Matt Wag. (Long Island, NY) took $1,000. Not only was this Matt’s first tournament with 607poker.com, this was his first live tournament ever!
