Cold Weather, Hot Player

A crowd of 56 players came out in freezing weather to take their shot at inEvent #2 of our Winter Season. 15 players took advantage of their re-buy to get us 71 total entries, and 8 players getting paid out.

Mark Grant (Harpursville, NY) picked up his first cash in only his second tournament at 607 Poker League, taking home $160 for 8th place. Jim Fa. (Binghamton) posted his fourth consecutive cash, going out in 7th place and winning $195. First timer Laura Dir. (Johnson City, NY) navigated a tough field, exiting in 6th place for $230.

Last season’s Points Leaderboard winner, Stevie Joh. (Johnson City, NY) took 5th place and $300 while Wayne Wint (Johnson City, NY) finished in 4th place, pocketing $360. Dan Kane (Hillcrest, NY) came out of a decade long retirement with a vengeance, working a short stack throughout the final table for a 3rd place finish and $445.

The winner of Event #6 in our Fall 2024 Season, Justin Hol. (Bainbridge, NY) was on a mission to become a two-time champion. Despite a long battle in heads up play, Justin ran pocket nines into winner Rob McL.’s pocket aces in a critical hand that left Justin crippled. Rob started heads up play with less than half of Justin’s chip stack but was able to overcome the deficit to post his first victory. Justin took home $745 for his second place finish while Event #2 Champion, Rob McL. picked up $1115 for the victory.

The victory brought Rob into 2nd place on the Season Points Leaderboard, trailing only the Event #1 winner, Tim Mon. on the leaderboard. With six more regular season tournaments to go, anyone can move to the top of the leaderboard with one top finish! The current prize pool for the Season Points Leaderboard is $720 and with six events left (3 of which are $90 buy-in events with extra money going into this prize pool), we are on pace to have over $3,500 paid out to our top finishers.

Event #3 is a $90 buy-in tournament at 5 PM on Saturday, January 25th. As with all regular season tournaments, each player is allowed one rebuy during the first six levels of play. Late registration is open until 7 PM and new players are always welcome. Join us for Event #3 and claim your spot at the final table!!!
