Emergency Tournament, Predictable Champion

We thought we were going to have a weekend off, but decided against it and held an emergency tournament on Friday Night. 32 people showed up and many of them fired a second or third bullet, resulting in 14 rebuys. With 46 total entries, we were poised to pay out our top 6 finishers.

With seven players left at our final table, Brandon Nel. (Cortland, NY) fell just short of the money, exiting on the bubble and just missing his second cash of the week. Once we hit the money, Derek Tho. (Binghamton, NY) was our first casualty. Derek managed a short stack throughout the final table to record his first cash in only his second tournament at 607poker.com. Derek took home $140 for his 6th place finish.

Tim Mon. (Newark Valley, NY) broke a recent cold streak to post a 5th place finish, picking up $195 for his efforts. Bart Hur. (Conklin, NY) improved on Monday’s bubble finish with a 4th place finish for $275 on Friday night.

With three players remaining, Scott Tho. (Conklin, NY) was the short stack and Jim All. (Windsor, NY) and Mike Mar. (Watkins Glen, NY) applied consistent pressure in pursuit of a heads up battle for the Friday Night crown. Mike woke up with pocket tens, getting it all in against Jim’s pocket jacks and was unable to improve. Mike claimed 3rd place and $455, leaving the other two players to battle for first. Scott used his chips aggressively but could not overcome a massive chip deficit to finish in 2nd place for $715. An impressive finish on the heels of his 3rd place finish in the Binghamton Poker Open earlier this week.

This left Jim All. as the last man standing, holding all of the chips and $980 for his first place finish. Jim came into the final table as the chip leader and held that lead throughout final table play, an impressive victory to say the least!
