Saturday Night Champ

After a short hiatus, we were back at it on Saturday night. Fifty players came out & plunked down $100 for their shot at poker glory. Seven of these vaunted players went back to the well for a rebuy. There was a $30 bounty on every player and a prize pool in excess of $3,700 after the bounties were removed.

We made it to a final table in record time, with nine players taking their seats but only seven of them making the money. Our first casualty was Anton Ka. (Westchester, NY) bowing out in 9th place but picking up three bounties so he didn’t leave empty handed. Bob Si. (Binghamton, NY) was our bubble boy in what was easily the craziest hand of the evening. We went to a flop with four players, three of which were all in. Bob Si. was holding Qd7d, Laura Di. was holding KT, Rob Cli. was in the lead with pocket eights and the big stack, Bryan Tr. held AK. A flop of KT3 gave Laura a lead that wouldn’t be overcome as nobody improved on the turn and river. Laura left the hand spinning up 110K into 600K, eliminating Bob on the bubble. Rob Cl. (Conklin, NY), based on starting the hand with a bigger stack than Bob, claimed 7th place and $150 to go with several bounties as Bryan’s top pair, top kicker took Rob down.

With 6 players remaining, Scott Bes. (Elmira, NY) put up his second consecutive cash at 607poker.com, claiming $185. Tasha Ro. (Binghamton, NY) exited in 5th place, taking home $260 for her first cash at our venue. First time player Matt (Scranton, PA) put in an impressive performance, picking up $375 and a handful of bounties for his 4th place finish.

The final three players discussed a chop but couldn’t come to an agreement and play continued. Laura Di. (Johnson City, NY) finished in 3rd place, picking up $575 for her best finish yet. It was a short heads up battle as Bryan Tr. (Scranton, PA) couldn’t battle back from his chip deficit and took 2nd place and $925 to go with his 3 bounties. Gus (Binghamton, NY) was the last man standing, holding all of the chips, including 11 bounty chips to go with the first prize payout of $1,245.
