Top Pair

Some days, one poker tournament just isn’t enough. Saturday was one of those days. We ran a $55 buy-in Survivor tournament as the second part of our Saturday double header. 20 players showed up and 2 fired a rebuy. This meant our top two finishers would walk away with $500 each and our third place finisher would take home $100.

Action was non-stop as we got to a final table after the first break. It didn’t take too much longer until we were on the money bubble, four handed, with all four players having comparable chip stacks. It was anyone’s game at this point. Pat Rei. (Deposit, NY) woke up with pocket kings on the hand heading into the second break. Unfortunately for him, his opponent had pocket aces and Pat finished as the bubble boy.

After break, play resumed and on the second hand, Wayne Win. (Johnson City, NY) called a raise from the big blind. On a flop of AK7, Wayne found himself all in and at risk but he had a commanding lead with his AJ up against his opponent’s QJ. Unfortunately for Wayne, the river was a ten, sending him to the rail in 3rd place. Wayne had the consolation of profiting in two tournaments in the same day.

This left Adam Dwy. (Binghamton, NY) and Jimmy Far. (Binghamton, NY) as the survivors, both collecting $500. Congrats to all three of our winners!!
